* Sacred story of Shiva's wonderful, folk-awe-inspiring Pradosha / Tandava dance
Once upon a time, 'Nataraja' all the gods appeared on Mount Kailash to participate in the Tandava dance of Lord Shiva. Jagajjanani Mata Gauri was present there to organize the Tandava under her chairmanship, occupying the divine gem.
Devarshi Narada also came there while cruising the worlds to attend that dance program. In a short time Lord Shiva started the Tandava-dance in a different mood.
All the gods and goddesses also became instrumental in that dance and started playing different types of instruments. Veenavadini's mother Saraswati started playing veena, Vishnu started playing Lord Mridang, Devraj Indra started playing Banshi, Brahma started singing with hand and Lakshmiji started singing. Other deities, Gandharvas, Kinnars, Yakshas, Uragas, Pannagas, Siddhas, Apsaras, Vidyadhars, etc., became engrossed in the praise of Lord Shiva by standing around them.
Lord Shiva performed a very amazing, folk-awe-inspiring tandava-dance in front of all those celestial personalities during that Pradosh period. His limb-handling skills, mudra-laghava, charan, kati, arm, cervical manic but assured Villol-Hilol effect left everyone's mind and eye completely awake.
Everyone praised that dance of Nataraja Lord Shankar. Bhagwati Mahakali became extremely happy on him. He said to Shiva - 'Lord! Today I am very happy with your dance, I want you to get a groom from me today.
On hearing his words, the public interest Ashutosh Lord Shiva said with the inspiration of Naradji- 'O Goddess! The joy of this Tandava-dance by which you, the gods and other celestial beings are being overwhelmed, is deprived of all the creatures of the earth. Even our devotees do not get this happiness. Therefore, you do this so that even the creatures of the earth can get a glimpse of it. But now I want to do 'Raas' only after getting rid of Tandava.'
Listening to Lord Shiva, Bhagwati Mahakali immediately ordered all the gods to incarnate on Earth in various forms. She herself took the incarnation of Lord Shyamsunder Sri Krishna and entered Vrindavan Dham. Lord Shiva took an incarnation as Shriradha in Braj. Here both of them together held Devdurbhal, supernatural ras-dance.
The title 'Nataraja' of Lord Shiva was received by Lord Shri Krishna here. The grasping creatures of the earth became delighted by the observation of this Ras and Lord Shiva's wish was fulfilled.
